The Overall Suit

This suit was made from a unique all-season wool blend from Capitol Hill Clothiers’s Signature collection. This client wanted a versatile year-round suit that was classic in some ways but stood out among others. The dark teal blue was the fabric that fit this ask perfectly! It works great for his needs, including events and professional days in the office.

Pants Details

This client wanted to go all out with his details! He chose a 3-inch tall waistband with side adjusters rather than belt loops for a sleeker silhouette and an easy way to tighten or loosen the waist. He also opted for an additional flap pocket in the front for a lighter or change. When standing, he likes to keep his hands in his pockets, so the pocket seam comes forward and is reinforced for consistent use!

The Buttons

Buttons can be a tough decision. Suit buttons are generally meant to match the suit to create a cohesive look but if you want garments that stand out and are versatile in a number of ways, contrasting buttons can be advantageous! These tortoiseshell buttons contrast nicely with the suit fabric and allow the jacket to be worn as a sport coat with contrasting pants if desired. This client also chose to contrast the last buttonhole on his functional cuffs with a matching yellow to the felt behind his collar.

The Lining

Anything you can possibly imagine can be placed in a Capitol Hill Clothiers jacket lining. This client is a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture and wanted a collage of illustrations in his jacket. The background color was selected to provide contrast with the suit fabric and work with the illustrations. Fun fact: The custom lining also appears inside the jacket’s chest pocket so it can be flipped up as a custom pocket square!

The Embroidery

Every client has some personality they’d like to show in their jacket. This client chose to have “Thank You For Smoking” embroidered in white behind the collar on a boldly contrasting yellow felt. This is a nod to his work as a lobbyist for the cigar industry. There are no limitations on what can be embroidered on a custom jacket, so if you’re thinking of scheduling a fitting, get creative and think of what you want your jacket to say about you - Literally!

Other Details

As mentioned earlier, a custom lining from Capitol Hill Clothiers also means that the chest pocket lining gets the same treatment! The Frank Lloyd Wright property illustrations serve as a pocket square if the client elects to flip it out. Another Capitol Hill Clothiers signature is the storm tab on the notch lapel - a stylistic choice that shows a garment was custom but isn’t too flashy!
