How Can You Customize a Custom Suit?

One of the most stylish ways to stand out from the crowd is with a custom suit. Whether you’re attending a formal event or just looking to make a statement, custom suits are the perfect way to express your personal style. When it comes to customizing your custom suit, there are plenty of options available. Let’s dive in.

The first step is customizing the jacket. When designing your custom jacket, you can choose from different styles such as traditional two-button designs, three-piece single-breasted designs, or various double-breasted designs. Additionally, you can customize your fabric choice by choosing from more than 2,500 high-quality wools, linens, silks, and more. The way to make a custom jacket truly yours, however, is with the numerous detailed styling options.

One of the most popular custom details is a custom lining. With custom lining, you can choose between endless colors, logos, or photos to make your custom jacket stand out even further. From a collage of photos of your dog to a tribute to your alma mater, there are endless options for customizing your custom suit with a custom lining designed individually for you. You'll also get to have your name on the inside of the jacket to show that it was made for you and you alone.

Another way to make your jacket stand out is by customizing your buttonholes and buttons. Choose between mother-of-pearl, bullhorn, or several other button options to either complement or contrast your jacket fabric. You can also choose one (or many) of a number of contrasting thread colors on the lapel or sleeve buttonholes to give your jacket the perfect touch of individuality.

A little-known detail that can be customized on a custom jacket is the melton, or the felt fabric behind the collar. This can be one of a number of fabric colors and you'll even have the option to embroider your preferred text so that when you flip up your collar, the message can show how truly custom your jacket is.

There are numerous other styling options such as the number and angle of your pockets, the style of your shoulder padding, and contrasting or picked stitching on your lapel. All those details and more are a big part of the Capitol Hill Clothiers design process and you're an integral part of making your jacket 100% yours.

Next up is customizing the pants. Customized pants can be tailored to perfectly fit your body and are custom-fitted for the most flattering look. Whether you’re looking for slim-fit or straight-leg trousers, customizing the pants of your custom suit is an easy way to make them yours.

Though there are slightly fewer design options for pants, you do have customization abilities you don't get from an off-the-rack pair of slacks. The first of which is the option to never have to wear a belt again! Capitol Hill Clothiers offers side adjusters in lieu of belt loops so you can simply tighten or loosen your custom dress pants with a flick of the wrist and never have to worry about matching a belt to your shoes again.

Another customization option is a laundry tag underneath the hem of your pants to match your embroidered name on the inside of your custom jacket. This is useful when you have your garments dry-cleaned so that the employees don't have to make chalk marks on your jacket and pants to note that they belong to the same customer.

You'll have the option to create pants with or without pleats (in many variations), have either a plain hem or a cuffed hem, and even customize how you button or clasp the pants at the top. If you want a 4-inch waistband on a high-waisted pair of slacks, it can be done!

By customizing all aspects of the custom suit—from your one-of-a-kind lining to the contrasting threads, you’ll be able to create something unique that is sure to turn heads everywhere you go. Not only will you get noticed and start conversations about your style, but you will feel more confident and in control than you ever have before knowing that your suit was made completely custom, just for you.
